During semester 4 in my Diploma studies, I had gone through an industrial training at Club Med Cherating Beach Resort, Kuantan. The reason that i have chosen this hotel for my internship placement is because i prefer to work at a more relaxing environment. During internship, i had been working at 3 different departments, which were Front Office, F&B (bar) and Housekeeping department.
My first department was working as a receptionist. My job task was to check in and check out the guest, serving the guest with fresh ice lemon tea. Other than that, we also need to answering calls from in house guests and outsiders. We need to follow the SOP to answering the calls and are able to fulfill the customer's demands. Sometimes we had been arrange to the airport to pick up the guest through our resort bus due to the large amount of group or the guest from China and Taiwan.
Next, i had switch to another department F&B as a bartender. I had learn a lot of bartender skills and making of mocktails and cocktails as well. My task at the bar were check stock, preparing beverages, tray service and up selling the wine. I had learn a lot of knowledge of the alcohol beverages. For example, get to know the name of the liquor,liqueur and remember the taste of it. Other than that, as a bartender it really train me to socialize with the guests.
After that, i have changed to housekeeping department as a supervisor. Our job is to assign the room attendants to clean which blocks of room and make sure they are hard working all the time. After the room was cleaned, i need to supervise the room by following the SOP. Other than that, we also need to check and controlling the store of the housekeeping to prevent the room attendant took excess of the amenities and bring back their home. I also had do the set up arrangement to surprise the guest. For example birthday celebration, anniversary, and honeymoon.
